Center for psychedelic therapy and research

Dr. Renye's journey into the realm of psychedelic therapy and research has been shaped by experiences, blending rigorous academic training with a deep appreciation for indigenous wisdom and traditions.

As a member of the inaugural cohort of the Center for Psychedelic Therapy and Research (CPTR) at the esteemed California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), Dr. Renye had the unique opportunity to immerse herself in an environment teeming with innovation and expertise. Taught and mentored by top-tier scientists, clinicians, and researchers, she delved into the cutting-edge theories and methodologies driving the field of psychedelic science forward. Under their mentorship, she honed her analytical skills, expanded her theoretical knowledge, and cultivated a nuanced understanding of the therapeutic potential of psychedelic substances. She is now a lead mentor for the CPTR program as well as a member of the admissions committee.

Bridging Worlds…

The Western therapeutic use of psychedelics, empathogens, and entheogens needs to be understood as medicine that has been used by indigenous peoples. The current “psychedelic renaissance” is a misnomer in the grand scheme of the movement. Dr. Renye's journey extended beyond the confines of academic institutions. Recognizing the importance of holistic perspectives and cultural sensitivity in psychedelic therapy, she embarked on her own independent studies to explore indigenous practices and indigenous ways of understanding this profound technology. Through her exploration, she encountered ancient traditions that have long revered psychedelic substances as sacred tools for healing, spiritual exploration, and communion with the divine.

In learning about and honoring indigenous perspectives, Dr. Renye gains invaluable insights into the intricate interplay between mind, body, and spirit—an understanding that transcends the boundaries of conventional Western paradigms. There is a profound reverence for the natural world, a deep-seated respect for the wisdom of elders, and a profound appreciation for the interconnectedness of all living beings that is inherent in the indigenous communities that have long held these medicines. These insights not only enrich her therapeutic practice but also instill within her a sense of humility and awe for the mysteries of existence.

By integrating insights from both academic research and indigenous wisdom, Dr. Renye embodies a holistic approach to understanding psychedelic therapy—one that honors the contributions of modern science while remaining grounded in the timeless wisdom of ancestral traditions.

psychedelic integration

Psychedelic integration serves as a vital component in maximizing the therapeutic benefits of psychedelic experiences, and Dr. Renye understands its profound significance in facilitating lasting transformation. With awareness of the neuroplasticity that follows psychedelic journeys, she emphasizes the importance of engaging in integration practices shortly after these experiences. By doing so, individuals can harness the heightened state of receptivity and insight brought about by psychedelics to effect meaningful changes in their lives. Dr. Renye offers a supportive and non-judgmental space for clients to process their experiences, explore insights, and integrate newfound perspectives into their daily lives. Through dialogue, reflection, and mindfulness techniques, she guides individuals in translating profound insights gained during psychedelic journeys into tangible shifts in behavior, thought patterns, and emotional well-being. In her practice, Dr. Renye recognizes that true healing occurs not only during the psychedelic experience itself but also in the deliberate and intentional integration of these experiences into one's life journey. By facilitating this integration process, she empowers individuals to fully realize the potential for growth, healing, and self-discovery that psychedelic experiences offer.
